A Slightly Different Blog than Normal

My blog posts are normally based on something I’ve read; this one will be a little different. After typing that, I am changing my mind – in many ways this is based on something I read.

Last week I posted my “new job” on LinkedIn. I received so many “congratulations on the new job” emails. However, there is more to the story, so as Paul Harvey would say, and now for the rest of the story.

I am not going to go through the gory details, but in a nutshell, my job at my current company is being eliminated. I’ve known this since the end of September, but I wanted to wait until it was announced internally before I posted anything on LinkedIn. I also needed to come to terms with the situation myself before putting the information out there. Full transparency – I am still with my current employer (until November 10th), but made the announcement to start to pave the way for my new endeavor.

As I mentioned, so many people have reached out to me…people from a company I left in 2004, people from a company I left in 2012, vendors, etc. In many cases I reached out to these people and told them briefly about my situation and that I’d appreciate them writing a recommendation on LinkedIn if they saw fit. (If you are reading this and you didn’t get one of those emails, please don’t take it personally. If you currently work with me, I didn’t want to put you in an awkward position.)

I know I love what I do. I’ve always hoped that I’ve impacted those who have attended my sessions or have been coached or mentored by me. And, I’ve always hoped that people saw the passion I have for what I do.

Apparently, what I’ve hoped for is true for some people.

If you’ve read my other blogs you know I try to be honest, well here is some honesty: Compliments often make me uncomfortable, I am not the greatest self-promoter, and I hate asking people for things.

Thank you to everyone who sent me a note of congratulations, and thank you to everyone who emailed me or wrote a LinkedIn recommendation. I am truly touched by the kind words in emails and the recommendations. I am amazed at some of the details people remembered. You don’t know how much all of this has meant to me.

Please help me network and promote Peek Learning Consultants if you think I can help your company, or someone you know. And, if there is something I can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you so much for your support!
